Everyone may have more than one unforgettable destinations. Personally, to me, it was Portugal where I traveled eight months later since I sent my mother to heaven, and where I received great comfort and healing after having suffered from deep depression and sadness. Staying on the Dom Luis I bridge of Douro river in Porto, I had precious time, separated from sadness and sorrow of parting, got touching emotion, memory, gratitude for comfort, and accepted positive energy. And that is why there are lots of the scenes of the bridge in my paintings.

Dreaming Traveler - Wish

Today as well, my heart is immerged into a country called Portugal.

Taking the buildings bearing the trace of unfortunate history and time of Portugal and the streets containing old and rough wall texture as a basic matiere, I reflected streets, buildings, people, and the old transportation tram and ship with the trace of desperate and sorrowful time on my canvas. I expressed the mood and the compelling energy of Lisbon and Porto with various techniques and views.

Particularly nowadays, I brought Porto's Dom Luis I Bridge as a main subject. The bridge which crosses Douro river, linking old town and new town, enduring the storm and waves of the world, and connecting people’s heart to heart in past and present time. The bridge which became a fistival site, opening the hearts of travelers from the world. The bridge on which I wanted to stay longer until late at night, enjoying the sunset with seagulls which quickly became friends of me. I am immersed in the scene which is read as a dream by someone, and as a wish by other one according to the colorful and unusual presentation of the different direction, angle, and time.

And that is why there are lots of the scenes of the bridge in my paintings.

Regardless of whether it's an overseas or a domestic destination, I comforted myself by drawing pictures of the place where I felt as if I had to go to again because of the feeling of leaving something important and the regret of not staying longer.

I felt a journey like a dream. Expressing the place dreamily and realistically as if I were teleported to the place and adding my imagination and stories to my painting was both an exciting play like a vicarious satisfaction on a trip which I could not go immediately because of some realistic constraints and a recording process on precious memory trip which I can do well as an artist.

I found my heart walking, seeing, and enjoying on the place when I selected materials and drew stories on my canvas. Though the process containing memory and impression was by no means a simple process, it bacame a tremendous energy source and a self-healing of comfort for me.

I am looking forward to where my heart will stay tomorrow, because the world belongs to the dreamer!!

I'm still on that journey.
